How will I be charged for my API subscription?

Understanding how charges are applied for your API subscription, including overage fees and the Soft Limit feature.

At Zyla API Hub, you can opt for a Monthly Plan with month-to-month billing or an Annual Plan that saves you two months' worth of fees compared to the monthly option.

Understanding how you will be charged for your API subscription is important to ensure clarity and transparency. Here's how the pricing structure works:

Recurring Monthly or Annual Subscription

The pricing for our API subscriptions is based on a recurring monthly or annual billing cycle. Depending on the plan you select, you will be charged a fixed amount each month or year. Our plans are designed to accommodate different usage levels and offer varying features and benefits.

Quota Limits

Each subscription plan comes with a predefined quota limit for API requests. This limit represents the maximum number of requests you can make within a month without incurring any additional charges.

Soft Limit & Overage Fees

The APIs have a Soft Limit activated by default. This feature allows you to exceed your plan’s quota without service interruption, but with an important detail: You can only exceed your plan’s limit up to the same number of requests that are included in your current plan.

  • How it works:
    • If your plan includes 1,000 API requests, you can make an additional 1,000 requests beyond your quota, for a total of 2,000 calls.
    • The Soft Limit will allow this extra usage, but you will be charged for each additional API request you make beyond your original quota.
  • Example: If your plan includes 1,000 requests, you can make up to 2,000 total requests without interruption, but you will be billed for the additional 1,000 requests beyond your initial quota. The charge per extra request will depend on the overage fee, which you can check on the pricing page of each API.

You can manage the Soft Limit feature through your account settings. If you prefer not to have the Soft Limit activated, you can disable it at any time.

Why is this important?

The Soft Limit ensures that you can continue to make API calls without service interruption, even if you exceed your quota. However, it’s crucial to monitor your usage to avoid unexpected charges for additional requests.
